Siemens to start remote maintenance services
15 Apr 2011
Manchester, UK – Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies is adding remote services to its range of internet-based maintenance and technical support for remote monitoring, maintenance and repair of machinery and plants.
Many companies are today struggling to find the money and expertise to maintain complex systems, especially at plants located over a wide area, according to Siemens IA&DT.
Remote access to plants over the internet or by mobile wireless communication allows companies to make their plants and machines worldwide available to competent automation experts, and to introduce the necessary maintenance measures, the vendor said.
The system also makes it possible for the customer’s own experts or external partners, like system integrators, to be involved in the remote access in addition to the skilled personnel from Siemens.
The new Simatic Remote Support Services are available in three service levels which range from reactive troubleshooting, analyses and adjustments by an assigned contact, through to preventive inspection services.
