Cylinder change saves Country Style dough
7 Jun 2011
Leeds, UK – Thorite has solved a long-running production problem at craft bakery company Country Style Foods in Leeds. Country Style which produces part-baked breads, patisserie, doughnuts and deserts for the UK’s leading retailers and food service customers.
A recurring problem was being experienced with existing valves and cylinders activating a high speed dough cutting process on a bread making machine. The issue was causing the unit to fail every two to three months.
Country Style also found that the replacement seal kits and cylinder costs were very high. The problem was further aggravated by long delivery times, causing expensive and extended downtime.
After engaging Thorite to assess the problem and come up with a cost-effective solution, Country Style changed the cylinder design to a high-speed Norgren ISO model with a guide unit which extends cylinder life.
As a further precaution a Norgren high speed valve was installed to work in tandem with the new cylinder, which in combination with the guide unit further improves cylinder performance.
Following a three-month trial with no failures, the bakery has recently taken delivery of a further kit of products.
