GE collaborates for deep-water exploration

GE Oil & Gas have struck a deal to supply subsea wellheads for hydrocarbon drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
The PEMEX Exploration and Production team are attempting to recover vast resources located in deep and ultra-deep-water locations.
Advanced technology being used is crucial to the successful optimisation of the hydrocarbon
The subsea wellheads have been designed to provide PEMEX with the necessary technology they need to excavate at high-pressure depths.
The latest project will utilise GE SMS800 and DWHC 700 high capacity wellheads; similar to those used in the Perdido and Kunah oil fields in Mexico.
Carlos Gil, head of the PEMEX team, stated that the advanced technology being used is crucial to the successful optimisation of the hydrocarbon reserves in the Gulf of Mexico.
In an agreement worth $84 million, PEMEX are attempting to drill in areas estimated to contain around 50% of all reserves in the Gulf of Mexico.
