Sub-metering exceeds expectations

Utility supplier Wavin have employed 140 Elcomponent parts across its UK and Ireland plants.
The requirement for accurate water and energy data resulted in the utility firm tightening the grip on its energy and carbon management systems.
The detailed information required led Wavin to install site-based automatic sub-metering systems provided by Elcomponent.
The process enabled Wavin to install the necessary sub-metering components, with only minimal disruption to the sites’ manufacturing processes
The meters provided detailed analysis which offered real-time reading within half an hour, all of which can be stored in a centralised database.
Miles Coppinger, Wavin engineering manager stated: “Elcomponent’s building-block approach to specifying the hardware and software has enabled us to realise and install a complete system that is perfectly tailored to our needs.”
The installation process comprised of meters for three Wavin utilities and was aided by the use of multiple networking options that included VHF radio and MODBUS connected meters, where possible.
The recorded data is managed and delivered via Elcomponent’s MeterRing MM software platform.
The process enabled Wavin to install the necessary sub-metering components, with only minimal disruption to the sites’ manufacturing processes, allowing them to focus on reducing unnecessary energy usage.
