Edwards shareholders approve takeover

Shareholders of UK vacuum pump manufacturer Edwards Group today approved the proposed £1.04bn takeover of the company by Sweden’s Atlas Copco.
At an extraordinary general meeting this afternoon a majority of Edwards shareholders approved the merger agreement, first made between the two firms in August.
Under the terms of deal Edwards will become part of Atlas Copco’s new Vacuum Solutions division, which like Edwards will be based in Crawley, West Sussex.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014.
