Funding will be awarded to those companies that create technologies capable of lowering the cost of consumer bills and reducing carbon emissions – such as ground source heat pumps and energy from waste technologies.
Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said: “This investment will give SMEs a vital boost to drive forward the development of a range of innovative low carbon designs, helping cut costs and bringing new technologies to market in this sector.”
Applicants can apply for funding via the Energy Entrepreneurs Fund, which is currently in its third phase. Today’s announcement of an extra £10 million takes the fund total up to £35 million.
