Sulzer to expand operations
25 Feb 2014
Sulzer has unveiled plans to develop its business in three key markets - oil & gas, power and water.
Pumps firm Sulzer has announced it will begin the process of setting up a new operational structure with a Services division and a Water Business unit as part of its implementation of a strategic decision to focus the company’s activities in three areas - oil & gas, power and water.
The Services division will combine the services for turbines, compressors, motors and generators currently provided by Sulzer Turbo Services with the services for pumps, currently provided by Sulzer.
Sulzer will be a leading supplier of both equipment and services for our three key markets

New pumps and related systems, including spares, are expected to form the Pumps Equipment division, with three regional business units offering engineered pumps for the oil and gas and power markets.
The Water Business unit will combine all products and services for the water and wastewater market segments - as part of the Pumps Equipment division.
“The integrated Water Business unit will strengthen our position for profitable growth in the large and attractive water market. Together with the Pumps Equipment division and Chemtech, Sulzer will be a leading supplier of both equipment and services for our three key markets,” said Sulzer chief executive officer Klaus Stahlmann.
The water unit integrates the wastewater pumps business, the engineered pumps for water transport and production, and the process pumps business for the general industry.
The engineered pumps and systems for oil and gas and for power will form the realigned Pumps Equipment division, which includes the Water Business unit. The portfolio ranges from highly engineered bespoke products to standard products and spares parts.
Meanwhile, to further expand its operational capacity, Sulzer has announced the acquisition of pump and valve manufacturer Saudi Pump Factory.
The agreement will see Sulzer take a 75% share in the company in a deal worth approximately £22 million.
The facility in Riyadh is designed to produce centrifugal pumps to API and ASME standard and will be part of Sulzer’s global manufacturing network, focusing on its three key market areas of growth.
