New suite of applications for advanced process control boost powdered whey production at Valio.
Valio, one of the largest whey powder production plants in Finland, says it has boosted production by more than 10% without the need to invest in extra hardware or use more energy.
The production plant says it was able to do this solely by implementing a new suite of applications for advanced process control (APC), enabling it to optimise the critical and energy-intensive final stage of the production process.
Whey is a secondary product from cheese production. As it has a high nutritional value, the use of whey powder as a nutritional supplement or as an ingredient in foodstuffs is growing worldwide.
