The new building will accommodate test facilities for the production of KSB’s triple-offset butterfly valves.
KSB is investing €12 million (£9.6m) in one of its French facilities to improve its position in the expending global valves market for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
The investment in KSB’s La Roche-Chalais factory in the west of France is being made in order to strengthen the company’s position on the global cryogenic valves market.
A new building, which will measure around 4,400 square metres, has been designed to accommodate new machining and welding equipment as well as test facilities for the production of triple-offset butterfly valves.
These valves are mainly used in liquefaction, gasification and natural gas transport. They are operated on platforms or factory ships, both in off-shore and on-shore production facilities.
Almost 60% of the globally operating liquefied gas tankers are equipped with valves from KSB’s French La Roche-Chalais location.
Construction of the new facility was scheduled to commence in July, with production at the end of 2015.
