Mandatory energy audits in force
23 Oct 2014
Large businesses are now legally obliged to carry out energy audits following legislation that came into force in July.
The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Regulations 2014 came into force on 17 July 2014 and require all large (non-SME) enterprises to undertake energy audits by 5 December 2015 and every four years thereafter.
Guidance has been published by government to help potential participants in the scheme, and the ISO/14414-Pump System Energy Assessment standard is referenced as an auditing methodology that can be accepted by “Lead Assessors” approved by the Environment Agency.
The Brtish Pump Manufacturers Association (BPMA) said it hoped BPMA CPSA accredited persons will be recommended by Lead Assessors to undertake the pumping system elements of company energy audits.
