Honeywell leaps to next level

Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) has launched a new addition to its SmartLine industrial transmitter family.
The SmartLine Guided Wave Radar Level transmitter is designed to measure the level and volume of liquids inside processing tanks up to 160 feet in height.
Honeywell said the launch also included its Application Validation Tool, which allows users to input technical data about their specific process tank and validate that the correct level transmitter application is delivered to their site.
The new level transmitter offers users a choice of a basic alphanumeric display or an advanced graphics display.
The advanced graphics display, which can show process data in graphical formats and communicate messages from the control room, also offers multiple languages and full integration with Honeywell’s Experion process control system, said Don Maness, vice president and general manager of Field Products at Honeywell Process Solutions.
Honeywell introduced the smarter field device concept with its SmartLine Pressure transmitter, the industry’s first modular instrument.
The current SmartLine range also includes a temperature transmitter.
“The new SmartLine level transmitter leverages the same proven platform, innovative modular design and ease of use as the pressure and temperature transmitters,” said Maness.
The range aims to provide lower total cost of ownership, from reducing initial purchasing costs, providing flexibility for post start-up modifications, and reducing maintenance and inventory costs along with high accuracy and stability, he added.
