Cleanroom for silicon processing
29 Jul 2015
GE Measurement & Control has announced a new clean room for silicon processing at its manufacturing site in Groby, UK.
The facility forms a critical part of the manufacturing process for the advanced industrial pressure sensors made at the site.
“After a challenging 13 months, it is fantastic to have a new world class silicon facility where we can focus on meeting our customers’ needs now and in the future,” said Graham Dawber, business leader for the Groby site.
“With these improvements, we can better serve customer demands and extend our leadership position in our target markets,” Dawber said.
Benefits of the new facility include:
- Increased manufacturing productivity with less silicon scrap, improved product quality and flexibility to meet customer demand
- Improved automation of processes that provide ability for more sensors to be produced per shift
- New product planning procedures, which allow sections of sensors batches to be dedicated to specific product lines much sooner; reducing customer delivery times
