VEGA has introduced VEGAPULS 64, believed to be the first radar level transmitter for liquids that measures at a frequency of 80 GHz.
As a result of the radar beam being better focused, measuring is more reliable, even under difficult conditions (tanks fitted with heating coils, baffles or agitators), says the company.
The VEGAPULS 64 has a beam angle of three degrees, allowing the transmitter to be used in vessels with internal installations or heavy build up on the walls, as its focused microwave beam avoids these obstacles.
The product is ideal for use in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, VEGA says.
The sensor’s small antenna – the diameter of the smallest version is no larger than a £1 coin – results in compact process fittings, meaning it can offer an alternative for confined spaces in small vessels.
