Pump firm funds test facility

Centrifugal and reciprocating pump technology company Ruhrpumpen has invested in a new assembly and pump testing facility in Lancing, UK.
In collaboration with Siemens Process Industries, the facility features a comprehensive ‘state-of-the-art’ test rig that is designed to handle flows of up to 400m3/hr.
It also has the capacity to test two packaged systems at once. According to Ruhrpumpen, pumps can be switched in and out quickly and efficiently to save idle test time and increase throughput.
The test rig is partially automated with flow and pressure ranges controlled by variable speed drives. All performance parameters such as flow, pressure, vibration and temperature are logged via programmable logic controllers and graphic interfaces.
The rig also has the capacity to carry out testing in accordance with API and Hydraulic Institute standards together with remote testing via video links, Ruhrpumpen said.
Simon Watteau, managing director of Ruhrpumpen’s reciprocating plunger pumps business, said: “This new state-of-the-art design centre, assembly and test facility reflects our continued drive to engineer solutions that deliver against our customers’ most [challenging] duties.”
As part of the investment, Ruhrpumpen has also opened a new sales office and design centre.
