In 1944 process engineer Emile Egger built the Cisac SA potato starch factory in Cressier, Switzerland.
However, a bumper potato harvest turned into a catastrophe when all the pumps failed and were unable to transport the mixture of water, potato pulp and starch.
As a result, Emile developed the Egger impeller and installed it in the existing pumps.
In 1946, Emile registered the patent for the Egger pump in 25 countries and set up his own pump factory on the other side of the road. By the end of the 1950s, Egger pumps was in operation in innumerable industrial plants.
A crucial milestone was the manufacture of the Turo free-flow pump, the predecessor of the vortex pump.
Fast-forward to 2017 and the independent, family-owned company has established subsidiaries in ten European countries, Asia and in North America.
