Spain’s only laser marking equipment manufacturer has acquired a majority stake in leading UK industrial laser supplier Halo Lasers.
Barcelona-based Macsa ID said the British firm, which operates from Shefford in Bedfordshire, has been rebranded Macsa ID UK Ltd.
Commenting on the purchase, parent company CEO Jordi Piñot stated: “Macsa has been looking for many years to establish a direct presence in UK, one of the most important markets in Europe, and we believe that the team from Halo Laser is a very valuable addition to the Macsa Group.”
Macsa ID’s sales and service network already covers more than 80 countries, with dedicated offices in Spain, China and Malaysia in addition to its new UK presence.
One of the five largest international companies in the laser and coding sector, in 2017 the firm achieved double digit growth for the ninth consecutive year and states it is on target to achieve the same in 2018.
It invests more than 8% of its revenues in annual research and development to maintain its position as a technological leader in the market.
Neil Greatorex, now managing director at Macsa ID UK, said that since its inception in 2012, Halo Lasers had established itself as a major provider of industrial laser systems in the UK.
“The significant investment made by Macsa ID will take the business to the next level and enable Macsa ID UK Ltd to be a full service provider of coding and marking solutions for a wide range of industries,” he added.
