HPS, the specialists in process and hygienic liquid transfer and product recovery, has released a new whitepaper entitled ‘A Guide to Product Recovery (Pigging) for Food Manufacturers’.
The guide is aimed at companies that process food, ranging from ready meals, sauces, dips and health foods to chocolate, dairy, soups, honey, yoghurts and much more.
The whitepaper provides an overview of pigging, how it works, the benefits, types of pigging systems, as well as insight into how HPS pigging technology is benefiting food manufacturers.
Pigging recovers nearly all residual liquid remaining in pipes that would otherwise go to waste, says the company. The technology uses a specialist projectile (the ‘pig’) which is an interference fit and so pushes out practically all of the product to its destination.
Food manufacturers are increasingly using pigging to increase yields, reduce waste, speed up changeovers and help environmental sustainability.
In addition to food companies, pigging is in wide use by companies that manufacture beverages, homecare products, personal care, cosmetics, pet food, paint and coatings and many other goods.
