Cola double win for FDF awards engineers
21 Sep 2018
Cola manufacturers Pepsi and Coca-Cola shared the honours as two of their employees won in the engineering categories at this year’s Food and Drink Federation annual awards.
Chris Quarmby, control systems specialist at Lincoln Manufacturing, PepsiCo, won Food and Drink Engineer of the Year, sponsored by Sheffield Hallam University.
Sophie Paveling, electrical and mechanical engineering apprentice at Coca-Cola European Partners, won Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by Aktrion Food
Speaking at the event, staged in London and sponsored by Santander, FDF chief executive Ian Wright congratulated the winners with a veiled reminder to politicians to defend one of the UK’s most successful industrial sectors.
“This is a night which celebrates the very best our industry has to offer. It is a really precious asset to our country and our people. We must all hope that the challenges we face in the months to come do not undermine the value UK food and drink delivers,” he stated.
“Warm congratulations to each of the winners of FDF Awards. Our wonderful dynamic industry dictates that every category is closely fought. So, while winning is a significant achievement, every entrant should be proud of their contribution to UK food and drink.”
