Anglian trounces Google, Apple and Ikea as best firm to work for
5 Dec 2018
It's official: the best large firm to work for in Britain in 2019 is a process industry company.
That’s the conclusion from this year’s 50 Best Places to Work survey carried out annually by recruitment company Glassdoor among organisations with workforces of more than 1,000 people.
While the British version of thelist includes many international firms with a British base, the winner is a well-known domestic name.
Utility firm Anglian Water topped the list, well ahead of the likes of global players Google (no 13), Ikea (16) and Apple (43).
Fellow water company Severn Trent made 44nd place on the list that also included Shell from the oil and gas sector and GlaxoSmithKline in the pharmaceuticals sector as well as Siemens.
The survey is carried out in the UK, USA, France, Germany and Canada with individual lists for each. The figures are derived from employee and former employee reviews and based on quantity, quality and consistency of reviews within a one year time frame.
