Non-Destructive Testing apprenticeships win national recognition

Skills Training UK has been shortlisted for its pioneering work in the development of non-destructive testing (NDT).
It is among the finalists for the ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Apprenticeships (Provider)’ category at the annual FE Week & AELP Apprenticeship Awards.
During the last year and a half the firm has become the largest NDT Apprenticeships provider in the country, enrolling 105 NDT Apprentices at 50 businesses. Of the intake, nearly two thirds are aged 16-24.
In 2017/18 it developed and launched Level 2 NDT Operator, Level 3 Engineering Technician and also the Level 6 NDT Engineer Degree in partnership with the University of Northampton.
Chief operating officer for Skills Training UK Stephen Crawley said: “We are delighted to be recognised for our hard work in developing our innovative apprenticeship programmes, which are in high demand and are proving to have a positive impact on the skills growth within the materials testing sector.
This year the company opened a West Midlands innovation and training centre together with GB Inspection Systems, to help promote social mobility and opportunities in the region.
