Queen’s Belfast offers free renewable energy testing

Energy and other companies will be able to access one of the most advanced testing equipment and analysis free of charge.
Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) is making the invitation thanks to funding from the Horizon 2020 MaRINET2 project which supports free access to renewable energy research at nearly 60 world-leading research facilities throughout Europe.
QUB’s Marine Group boasts more than four decades’ worth of experience in the field and the latest initiative offered companies a “fantastic opportunity” said spokesman Dr Pal Schmitt.
“At Queen’s, our experts are renowned for their extensive expertise in scaled wave tank and field testing. Our facilities and equipment world class and we are ready to support industry partners from early design stages, right through to industrial prototype development.”
The MaRINET2 project is funded with €10.5 million by Horizon 2020 this is the fourth occasion on which free testing has been offered through the project. It will be available until 30 September this year.
A webinar to assist candidates with their application and share updates on the process is scheduled for 28 August 2019.
