KSB unveils a Chinese record breaker

KSB stepped into the record books with the delivery of what it claims is the world’s most powerful boiler feed pump, with the highest drive rating anywhere.
The CHTD 11 boiler pump is designed for a maximum inlet pressure of 270 Celsius with a pressure of up to 520 bar.
It was created for the coal-fired Pingshan II power plant in Huaibei, China – whose supercritical power station is reputed to achieve an efficiency of 50% at a unit output of 1350 megawatts.
Two steam turbines drive the pump set. When the pump takes up operation it will reach an efficiency in excess of 88 percent, which is a significant increase compared with previous models.
