Lockdown coincides with surge of LinkedIn interest
23 Jun 2020
Months of global lockdown has produced a surprise boost to Process Engineering’s LinkedIn platform, which recorded a 2,500% rise in followers in a single month.
Statistics for the period May 21 – June 19 show the site added more than 1,700 followers, with a peak in early June.
A significant component of the rise comes from abroad and in particular India. The country now accounts for around 23% – nearly one in four of all PE followers.
“It’s an unprecedented increase. While engineers are enthusiastic consumers of video product online, growth on social media platforms tends to be slow and steady,” commented Process Engineering editor Brian Attwood.
“However, changing circumstances in the economy at home and worldwide have perhaps spurred greater interest in the value of business networks for international employment and trading/export opportunities.”
