A survey of 1,500 American and British IT decision makers reveals that the UK manufacturing sector is among the most optimistic about growth prospects.
Epicor Software Corporation’s annual Insights Report, focused on mid-sized firms, showed more than half the total sample across both countries expected to grow in size and workforce numbers.
Nearly three-quarters (73%) said they believed their business will be fully recovered from the COVID pandemic by the end of 2022, with cloud technology reported as a key enabler to recovery, claims Epicor.
UK manufacturing sector was the most optimistic about growth with more than three quarters (77%) predicting expansion within the next three years. This compares with 44% in the distribution sector and 41% in building supplies.
Overall some 83% of respondents said they have already accelerated cloud migration plans to cope with business challenges.
However, only 31% of UK mid-sized businesses surveyed were mostly on cloud services although an encouraging 98% plan to further achieve more by March 2022.
“A key takeaway from this year’s study is the sea change in attitude toward cloud as a critical business accelerant. Leaders have moved from consideration to adoption. While the companies who make, move, and sell what is most essential to economic growth may be all aboard the cloud train, the data suggests their implementation needs vary vastly,” said Epicor CEO Steve.
