Assystem announces 450 new jobs on energy transition projects across UK
22 Feb 2022
Assytem is launching a massive recruitment drive to hire 450 new employees for a spate of low carbon projects including new generation nuclear energy sites.
The global engineering and digital services group says much of the work will centre on the likes of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and on the UK’s Small Modular Reactor programme, as well as on the development of fusion energy technology.
Posts will include mechanical, electrical and control and instrumentation designers and engineers, as well as experienced site supervision and commissioning experts with nuclear experience. Assystem also plans to recruit data engineers, project integration specialists and system architects.
Additionally, Assystem subsidiary Corporate Risk Associates (CRA) is seeking to expand and is advertising 25 new specialist technical roles based across the UK, including risk and safety consultants to work on low carbon energy projects in Britain and abroad.
Nuclear recruits will benefit from specialist training from the Assystem Nuclear Institute, while new colleagues in rail and digital activities will benefit from a similar professional development offer from the Assystem Rail Institute and the Assystem Digital Institute. Key locations will include Blackburn, Bristol and Derby as well as London.
The parent firm’s strategy includes the recruitment, retention and development of more women in the company. This will involve investment of £5 million in a new UK graduate scheme to attract 100 women to nuclear roles by 2025-6.
Assystem UK managing director Simon Barber said: “Today the UK is in a new era of building energy technology, delivering new electrified transport infrastructure, and is delivering major nuclear new build and nuclear decommissioning programmes.
“Our growth in the UK is matched by our commitment to invest in the training and development of our employees and to building the diverse workforces of the future.”
