President and chief executive of the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE), Elena Rodriguez-Falcon has been honoured as one of the inspiring engineers and technologists at The Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) recent Celebrating Impact event in London.
She joined a host of famous names from engineering’s past and present, including Ada Lovelace, Alexander Graham Bell, Alan Turing, Amy Johnson, Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking and Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
Speaking about her inclusion, Rodriguez-Falcon said: “Being celebrated alongside the likes of Ada Lovelace, Brunel, Edison, and many other extraordinary individuals of yesterday, today and tomorrow, is something one doesn’t even dream about. I am tremendously grateful and humbled that the IET somehow thought me worthy of inclusion.”
The IET, which represents more than 155,000 engineering and technology professionals in nearly 150 countries, asked the public to nominate any engineer or technician who has made a positive impact on the industry or the world.
The top 95 nominations were decided by a review panel and are now celebrated in a stairwell gallery exhibition at IET London: Savoy Place.
