Businesses urged to enter Innovate UK competition as deadline looms
10 Aug 2022
Process companies are being invited to take part in an Innovate UK programme designed to boost competitiveness by increasing their access to expert advice and facilities.
A4I, otherwise known as the Analysis for Innovators(A4I) programme is open for applications until the end of this month and offers UK firms a chance to work with leading scientists and advanced specialist technology and companies.
Nine partner organisations are providing help for the scheme. These include Innovate UK KTN, ASTUTE – Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies, the Henry Royce Institute, National Gear Metrology Lab, National Institute for Biological Standards and Control, the National Measurement Laboratory at LGC, National Physical Laboratory, Newton Gateway to Mathematics, the Science and Technology Facilities Council and TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory.
TÜV SÜD provides advice for testing flow measurement systems and is a leader in the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as well as the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning into products.
It is also the country’s Designated Institute for Flow and Density Measurement and part of the UK’s National Measurement System.
TÜV SÜD business development manager Lynn Hunter said A4I could enable businesses to solve problems where standard technologies and techniques had failed.
“TÜV SÜD has experience in supporting a range of businesses across different industry sectors and A4I gives even more of them access to our facilities, which are equipped with the largest and most diverse range of full-scale flow test facilities in the world,” she said.
“They can also collaborate with our team of measurement scientists, who use the most advanced techniques to develop easily-integrable, cost-effective solutions.”
To patrticipate in Stage1 of the competition process, businesses must apply before 31 August this year in one of two entry streams: mini projects for small and medium enterprises valued at a maximum of £50k and lasting for three months, or longer projects open to all sizes of business, worth a maximum £120k and running between three and six months. The second stage of the competition will start in October.
