Agreement seals work on advanced materials innovation centre

Global giant Tata Steel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK’s national centre for research and innovation for advanced materials The Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials to set up a Centre for Innovation in Advanced Materials.
Their collaborative research and development programme includes Tata Steel investing a total of £10 million over four years, with the Centre for Innovation to be formally set up at the Institute’s University of Manchester headquarters.
It aims to capitalise on Tata Steel's expertise in technology translation and commercialisation, aligned with Royce's abilities within advanced materials science and innovation. Royce Partners which include the Universities of Cambridge and Sheffield, and Imperial College London can also contribute.
The new Centre will link up various advanced materials hubs with the broader UK innovation eco-system involving multiple other universities, catapult centres and the National Health Service.
