Digital Catapult takes supply chain initiative worldwide
4 Sep 2024
Digital Catapult has launched the first international version of its Supply Chain Accelerator, employing deep tech solutions to capitalise on the massive increase in cross-border trade.
This involves two initiatives, one focused on seamless trade across borders and the other on product carbon footprint measurement, designed to boost supply chain resilience and sustainability respectively.
Its global Seamless Trade Across Borders project, is supported by Leonardo UK, BAE Systems, BT Group and the International Chamber of Commerce. An estimated 60% of international trade transactions are predicted to be digitalised by the end of the decade; the project is aligned with the Government’s Electronic Trade Documents Act – intended to unlock a potential £25 billions-worth of economic growth.
Participating tech providers include eTEU, Linear-works, Parkway logic (Exabler) and Kavida AI each receive £85,000 to develop their individual solutions.
In the last decade, the volume of cross-border trade has increased by around 25%, demonstrating the economic value of imports and exports, and the need to streamline international trade processes
