SciMed seminar lifts the lid on food testing

Scientific instruments supplier SciMed hosts a one-day seminar on food testing methods and techniques, featuring the latest analytical tools and technologies.
Taking place on Thursday 13 February at Reading Scientific Services Limited (RSSL), the demonstrations will centre on for food safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Key topics will include rheology, tribology, calorimetry, thermal analysis, elemental analysis, supercritical fluid extraction, polarimetry, refractometry and optimising blending processes.
Presentations from SciMed product managers and specialist guests will include product manager Darren Machen outlining the uses and applications for Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) in food industry raw material identification, blend uniformity and product release.
Meanwhile, Metals Laboratory scientist Jay Fairchild will discuss the use of elemental analysis of foods, examining issues such as measuring trace, minor and macro elements in food, and the journey from sample preparation to analysis.
Also included is a networking session and an exclusive tour of RSSL's laboratory facilities.
