Wendy Hayward has made history as the first woman president appointed to head the British Compressed Air Society in its 95-year existence.
Hayward, managing director of Aircare Compressor Services Limited, takes over the role from Steven Rohan, integration and operations manager, bioscience filtration at Parker Hannifin.
In her first statement the new president praised her predecessor for “is leadership, commitment to inclusion and drive to elevate training and standards over the past two years [that] set a strong benchmark for the future growth of the Society”.
Founded in 1930, BCAS represents manufacturers, distributors and end users of compressed air and vacuum systems.
It also plays a key role in maintaining standards and advising on key legislation in the UK, Europe and globally.
Since its creation it has had a total of 60 presidents drawn from leading companies in the sector such as Atlas Copco, Mattei and HPC plc.
As the newest incumbent, Hayward will lead the organisation’s board for a two year term, with a specific focus on further driving quality standards.
