Elfab has developed a pressure-relief system for use in aseptic and hygienic process conditions.
The Hygienic Opti-Gard's advanced detection and flexibility are said to offer significant benefits to all involved in the specification, purchase and operation of pressure management systems.
The Opti-Gard features a non-fragmenting, reverse-acting bursting disc with a smooth uninterrupted surface finish to reduce contamination and maximise steam sterilisation (SIP) and clean-in-place procedures (CIP). The system is designed to fit directly between ISO 2852 standard food industry couplings and clamp fittings.
It is supplied with Elfab's ATEX-approved integral Flo-Tel burst-detection device. This is a non-invasive, magnetically-actuated and completely reusable detection system that ensures fail-safe detection and minimises the risk of spurious alarms.
With a performance tolerance of only 5% across a wide range of burst pressures and a 95% operating ratio, the Opti-Gard is said to have the highest performance characteristics available for liquid, gas or vapour applications.
The system is manufactured from 316 stainless steel as standard, although alternative materials are available on request.
