More AEA acquisitions

The Harwell-based AEA Technology, science and engineering services firm, has agreed terms to acquire EA Systems.
EA Systems, a Californian-based engineering software company, will operate as one of four business divisions in AEA Technology Engineering Software.
AEA will pay an initial $5.5 million in cash for the business, which markets the PASCE suite of software applications for plant process design and life-cycle management.
AEA showed interest in Alameda-based EA Systems because it was 'one of the first software companies to identify and address the need to produce consistent data for use throughout a plant's life-cycle', said AEA Software md Steve Curl.
This is the fifth acquisition AEA has made during the past 16 months in attempts towards establishing a worldwide engineering software business.
In addition to the new EA Systems division, AEA also operates CFX, a supplier of fluid dynamics software; nCode International, a provider of fatigue prediction software; and Hyprotech, a supplier of simulation software.
