Scada at the hub of fuel network
15 Jan 2000
A new tank gauging and Scada system has been commissioned at Warwickshire Oil Storage, the UK petroleum distribution centre run for Fina, Elf and Conoco.
The upgrade, put in under a contract with Whessoe Varec, is the latest stage of modernisation of the tank farm. It integrates level and temperature measurement and alarm data for 23 tanks into a Scada system optimised for managing liquid inventories.
Whessoe Varec won the contract with a system based on its FuelsManager Scada package running on 32-bit Windows NT. The system supervises the network of tank gauges - a mix of old, refurbished units and new Varec 2006 float gauges and Model 1315 transmitters - and links with Fina's AS400 wide-area network.
