Sterling offers novel 'leakproof' magnetic pumps
15 Jan 2000
A 'new generation' of magnetically driven pumps has been introduced by Sterling SIHI, of Altrincham, Cheshire.
The single-stage end suction pumps, designated the CBRB series are the result of experience gained with the first generation of glandless pumps and pump users' comments. By eliminating the need for a packed gland or mechanical seal, the magnetically driven pumps offer substantially increased reliability. Sterling claims that 70 per cent of pump breakdowns result from seal failures.
The CBRB pumps' magnetic drive suits the to applications in which leak avoidance is imperative: the pumping of valuable, toxic, nuclear or other noxious materials. isolation shrouds for the magnetic coupling are available in a range of materials including metals and plastics.
