Measure dew point, precisely, directly
18 Apr 2002
Claiming new standards of precision and reliability in the measurement of dew point and humidity, Michell Instruments has launched Optidew, a cooled mirror instrument that measures dew point directly.
Suitable for rigorous applications, Optidew is a humidity transmitter with a wide dynamic measurement range, from -50 degrees C to 90 degrees C dew point over a temperature range of -40 degrees C to 90 degrees C, equating to an RH range of 2 to 95 per cent.
By measuring dew point directly, using a high-quality platinum resistance thermometer, the instrument is said to offer absolute precision with drift-free, long-term performance.
Michell's new DCC (dynamic contamination correction) system automatically eliminates any error that may be caused by particles contaminating the mirror surface, and adapts itself to applications 'from the dirtiest processes to the cleanest of semiconductor applications'.
Optidew can be mounted in a variety of ways - directly into the process, flange or tee-mounted, or via an external sample line - and is available in a range of options, including up to 250m of cable for the remote sensor, probe sensor mounting arrangement, and sintered sensor guard.
