Pumps stop vapour escape
15 Jan 2000
A range of vapour recovery pumps designed for petrol pumps to conform to new European legislation, has been launched by ASF Thomas.
The law states that all petrol pumps are equipped with a vapour recovery system to eliminate the petrol vapour escaping into the atmosphere. To achieve this, the pumps are built around diaphragm, Wob-L piston and rotary vane technologies.
They have a moulded diaphragm with a Teflon-coated surface, which is said to guarantee resistance to petrol vapour and ensure long life.
The Wob-L piston construction provides a high flow rate at a maximum back pressure. The flexible cup of Teflon compound expands with use to maintain a good seal, provides high efficiency and is claimed by the company to ensure a consistent performance.
