LGC launches analysis outsourcing service
15 Jan 2000
Companies needing to meet regualtory demands for effluent water quality will soon be able to hire the expertise of LGC (formerly the Laboratory of the Government Chemist) and North West Water. The two companies have joined forces to offer an environmental analysis service capable of handling large volumes of effluent, which will also work on developing new methods of analysis and problem solving.
LGC will provide the analysis and problem-solving expertise, while North West Water will contribute its know-how in high-volume analysis, waste water and microbiology. Services on offer will include testing of trace compounds in water, detecting traces of by-products from speciality chemicals in effluent, and studies of comtaminated land.
As well as providing specialist help, it will allow its clients to outsource their analytical operations. `Outsourcing analysis offers a dual benefit,' explains John Mason, managing director of LGC's north-west operations. `Companies can cut their short-term costs by accessing the economies of scale of a specialist provider, and their long-term liabilites by avoiding the need for continued improvements to keep pace with the latest technology.'
