Waste targeted for government biotech funding
15 Jan 2000
Waste reduction is among the targets of a £6.45million government grant to boost biotechnology innovation in the UK. The grant will fund the Biotechnology Exploitation Platform Challenge.
Projects benefiting from the funding include the application of biotechnology to treat effluents and recycle chemicals that have been incinerated or landfilled. Other projects are in the healthcare field, such as developing new treatments for neurological disorders, and the use of body odours to diagnose disease.
