ABB builds on strengths of acquisition
15 Jan 2000
Following its acquisition last year of Elsag Bailey Process Automation, the ABB Group has reorganised itself to make the most of its new portfolio. Heading up the Group's £128million instrumentation business in the UK is new ABB Instrumentation md Mike Mason, formerly in charge of Elsag's UK operations.
Speaking at the July relaunch of the company, Mason said the merger had produced good synergy and minimal product overlap, with ABB's traditional strengths such as in the water and power industries `dove-tailing' with Elsag's prominence in the general process markets.
First off the new company's production lines will be the AquaMaster water management system. This is a single instrument for district metering, water distribution, customer billing, leakage control and treatment works.
