Engineering pay settlements fall

Pay settlements in the engineering industries have fallen to a twelve-month low, according to figures released by the Engineering Employers' Federation. The average settlement for the three months to September was 3.4 per cent. The EEF blames the strong pound and tough economic conditions for the fall, and stated that further interest rate cuts might be needed.
