Quick tests for effluents

A photometer testing instrument from Palintest could be a major help in checking whether effluent discharges comply with the Urban Wastewater Directive. Typical applications might include monitoring factory effluents and landfill leachate, the company says.
Operators need only to mix water samples with pre-mixed test chemicals, supplied ready in tubes, and slot them into the monitor. The instrument detects a colour change on a positive test, and a reading of the concentration of the dissolved pollutant appears on an inbuilt LCD screen.
