Moving story of a refinery

German contractor Krupp Uhde is set to move a refinery from Germany to India, the first such project it has undertaken. Costing some $600million, the project will involve moving 140,000m of piping, 1400 pieces of process equipment and 59,000tonnes of machinery from Worth am Main to Cuddalore in southern India, where it will be operated by Pennar Refinery. The refinery has a capacity of 5million tpa of mineral oil, and was closed down by Mobil in 1995.
