Self-cleaning strainer
15 Jan 2000
Plenty Filters has introduced a new compact range of self-cleaning, backflushing strainers. Designed especially for water systems, these units are said to reduce maintenance to a minimum by automatically discharging contaminate without interruption to flow, and therefore require no manual supervision.
The build-up of contaminate increases the differential pressure across the filtration element, which in turn triggers the drive motor on the cleaning arm and opens the effluent drain valve. Some of the process liquid is lost but the cleaning cycle is completed in a few seconds.
The range is manufactured from cast iron or stainless steel. Design pressure is 13.8 bar and for flows from 70 to 2170 gal/min.
