Hodgson's choice: SSP rotary lobes
15 Jan 2000
Positive transfer of high viscosity media at up to 200 degrees C characterises the range of pumping jobs fulfilled by Alfa Laval's rotary lobe pumps at Hodgson Chemicals. The Teesport-based company produces a range of chemicals for oilfield production and exploration.
The SSP SR pumps transfer material from reactors through blenders to storage or recirculation. The product can have a viscosity up to 5,000 centipoise and a treacle-like consistency at 175 degrees C.
Typically the SR5 pump empties a reactor in one hour. It is fitted with integral pressure relief valves to stop the system pumping against a closed discharge.
