Membrane filter cuts microbes
15 Jan 2000
Kalsep has developed and launched a range of filtration systems for municipal and industrial water treatment to combat microbial contamination.
The hydro-X mobile systems operate in direct flow and are available in two versions, producing 5Ml/day and 10Ml/day of treated water respectively. High flowrates are maintained by backflushing the membranes with permeate and chemical dosing to remove gross contamination.
The system, featuring hollow fibre filtration membranes, can completely remove microbes like Crtyptosporidium and Clostridium.
Key applications for the system are combatting microbial contamination, maintaining water supplies during drought or poor water quality, and back-up when permanent filters are being refurbished.
