A Young look for Babcock board
Three new board-level appointments at Babcock International accompany the retirement of long-serving finance officer Erik Porter. His successor will be Nigel Young, who joins the group from First Technology, where he held the same post. Meanwhile, the group has elevated Gernot Schafer and Murray Easton, respectively managing directors of the bulk materials handling and facilities management divisions, to board level. This reflects the company's intention to focus on these divisions as core businesses, and 'shortens the lines of communication,' according to chairman John Parker.
