Putting a new spin on ultrasonics

Launched recently in the UK at the C&I Europe exhibition, Siemens' Sitrans F flowmeter features a new patented approach to ultrasonic flow measurement.
The meter uses a helical ultrasonic signal to measure the complete flow profile, delivering what Siemens says is exceptional accuracy, even at high turndown rates. At 25:1 turndown, for example, accuracy is 0.5 per cent, and even at 100:1 an accuracy of 1 per cent is claimed.
Equally suited to conductive and non-conductive liquids, the Sitrans F is said to be excellent for small bore pipes, low flow rates or viscous liquids. It is Profibus PA compatible and equipped with HART output as standard.
