No bearing on dry run pumps
15 Jan 2000
Vanton Pumps has developed a bearingless pump to avoid downtime caused by dry running. The Vanton SGK line of non-metallic, bearingless, vertical spindle centrifugal pumps has been designed to handle corrosive, hazardous or toxic fluids in processes where dry running may be necessary for extended periods of time.
The new bearingless pump, with balanced cantilever shaft design, eliminates the need for submerged sleeve bearings.
All components in contact with the media are available in thermoplastics the choice of plastic depending on the characteristics of the fluid.
Vanton claim that maintenance and repair downtime is limited to routine checks only, with an operating life of 25 000 hours. The SGK pump is rated for flows to 240m3/hr, at heads to 67m and for temperatures up to 135 C.
