Hoechst jv gears up

The polypropylene joint venture between BASF and Hoechst is to be named Targor, the German majors have announced. The companies plan to cut the joint venture loose on 1 July. Targor will have a production capacity in excess of 1.4million t/a at sites in Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands and the US, with sales around DM1.7billion/a. Meanwhile, BASF has bought part of Dow Chemical's automotive coolants business, based in the Netherlands, for an undisclosed sum.
